Just a little update on this. I ended up buying the Glock cwkann had for sale on another forum. It's a Glock 34. I haven't had time to shoot yet, but that will change here soon. Just got to get a safe for it now. I'll get pics up as soon as I can. Thanks everyone for all the info.

The first question would be what you will be doing with it? If its going to used for plinking at the range then you might want to consider a 22. The initial purchase price is lower and the cost of ammo is a whole lot cheaper. I own a Browning Buckmark that can be had used for usually less than $400. For a first pistol it is a good choice to learn the disciplines of shooting. If you will be using the sidearm for self defense in the home or for carry you have many options and you will get a multitude of opinions on what is best. In this case I would recommend that you spend some time at a range that rents guns so that you can try them out. The most effective handgun for self defense will be one that you are able to shoot well in a caliber that is proven.
