What's the smallest round you'd use? I know a lot of people use .223, but, personally, I say .243.
Thoughts?

The smallest LEGAL round that I am aware of is the .223. I use one of .270, .280, .30-06, 30-30, 7mm mag. I haven't ever used a .223. I know it will kill a whitetail humanely though. It is more important to make your shot placement count with a round that small. Ballistic tip ammo expends all of it's energy in the deer and will kill it quickly.

I have never been a fan of the 6mm,s for Deer.Varmints yes ,Deer NO. I have used a 25-06 or a 257 Roberts with good effect. 1 shot 1 deer.Of course that works for the 308,45-70, or 50BP. I just don,t take iffy shots. IF I can,t get a clean shot.... then I wait or pass...

I tend to do the same thing. I use either a .308 or .450 Bushmaster, but I know plenty of people that use .243, .260 Remington, or 6.5 Creedmor for whitetail.
A 6.5 Creedmor Savage is actually going to be my next rifle, but not for hunting. It'll be an F-Class/NRA Highpower rifle.
